Downsizing Goldfish

Moving out of the house has been a long process. Consistently have I underestimated just how long it takes to remove every last thing from a house. You may have made up your mind about what's going where, sure - but have you actually moved it? Have you put it in its final place? How many times will you touch it before it ends up where it's going to stay?

For items going on the road with us, it turns out the answer is: A Lot. We have a big RV, but compared to the house, it's practically a shed. Drawers that looked bare when we were cleaning out in preparation to move now are are clearly overstuffed, and there's no way all that is coming along. Objects that I thought, sure, that'll fit in some out-of-the-way storage bin? Yeah, there aren't as many of those as you think. The laser printer, for example, clearly not coming along, though we had bring it all the way back here to find out. It seemed so reasonably sized in the house!

So, as expected, there are some objects that made it all the way here to Columbia River RV park that ended up coming with us back to the house today. But an entire truckload more stuff came back from the house to the RV. All the work and play spaces in the bunkroom are stuffed with laundry baskets and boxes of items that need to find homes... somewhere in here. Lots of clothes and linens, shoes, a surfeit of first aid, cosmetics, and remedies, stuff stuff stuff. And we still don't have any garbage bags, as we haven't brought over the cleaning supplies from the kitchen. The kids' toothbrushes only made it over today. I think we have like one unused tupperware container here, and what we thought was a minimal set back at the house is easily twice as large as we could imagine fitting in here.
